📋 Indications & Clinical Dosage
*Active immunization against hepatitis B virus:*
BY IM INJ: Children 1 month-15 years: 10 mcg for 1 dose, then 10 mcg after 1 month for 1 dose, followed by 10 mcg after 5 months for 1 dose, deltoid muscle is preferred site of injection in older children; anterolateral thigh is preferred site in infants andyoung children; not to be injected into the buttock (vaccine efficacy reduced).
Adult & Children above 15 yrs: 20 mcg for 1 dose, then 20 mcg after 1 month for 1 dose, followed by20 mcg after 5 months for 1 dose, deltoid muscle is preferred site of injection; not to be injected into the buttock (vaccine efficacy reduced).
⛔ Contraindications
Severe febrile infections, severely immunosuppressed patients should not be given live vaccines (including thosewith severe primary immunodeficiency)
⚠️ Precautions & Warnings
Dialysed or immunocompromised patients may need further doses.
⚠️ Adverse Reactions / Side Effects
Mild transient local soreness, erythema and induration at inj site, low grade fever, malaise, nausea, dizziness.
