📋 Indications & Clinical Dosage

*Infections due to beta-lactamase-producing staphylococci including respiratory tract, ENT, UT and soft tissue infections, Gonorrhoea, dental abscess, otitis externa, Adjunct in pneumonia, impetigo and cellulitis:* ORAL: Adult: 250-500 mg 4 times a day; Children 1 month-1 year: 62.5-125 mg 4 times a day; 2-9 years: 125-250 mg 4 times a day; 10-17 years: 250-500 mg 4 times a day. BY IM INJ: Adult: 250-500 mg every 6 hours BY SLOW IV INJ, ORIV INF: Adult: 0.25-2 g every 6 hours. *Endocarditis (in combination):* BY SLOW IV INJ, ORIV INF: Adult: (body-weight up to 85 kg): 8 g daily in 4 divided doses; (body-weight 85 kg and above): 12 g daily in6 divided doses. *Osteomyelitis:* BY SLOW IV INJ, ORIV INF: Adult:Up to 8 g daily in 3-4 divided doses. *Surgical prophylaxis:* BY SLOW IV INJ, OR IV INF: Adult: 1-2 g, to be administered up to 30 minutes before the procedure, then (by mouth or by IM injection or by slow IV injection or by IV INF) 500 mg every 6 hours if required for up to 4 further doses in high risk procedures. *Staphylococcal lung infection in cystic fibrosis:* ORAL: Child: 25 mg/kg 4 times a day (max. per dose 1 g), alternatively 100 mg/kg daily in 3 divided doses; max. 4 g per day.

💊 Mode of Administration

Intermittent in glucose 5% or sodium chloride 0.9%. Suggested volume 100 ml given over 30-60 min, Viadrip tubing in glucose 5% or sodium chloride 0.9% or ringers solution or compound sodium lactate. Continuous infusionnot usually recommended.

⛔ Contraindications

History of flucloxacillin associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction, hypersensitivity to penicillins, cephalosporins or other beta-lactams.

⚠️ Precautions & Warnings

Hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment; monitor renal and hepatic function during prolonged treatment, age above 50 years, serious underlying disease.

⚠️ Adverse Reactions / Side Effects

: Hypersensitivity reactions, GI disturbane, super infection,hepatic reactions. Rare: Pseudomembranous Colitis, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis.
