๐ Indications & Clinical Dosage
*Symptomatic relief of allergy such as hay fever, urticaria:*
ORAL: Adult: 1 mg twice daily, increased if necessary up to 6 mg daily.
Children 1-3 yrs: 1-2 tsp twice daily; 3-6 yrs: 2 tsp twice daily; 6-12 yrs: 2-4 tsp twice daily.
*Adjuvant in anaphylactic or anaphylactoid shock and angioneurotic oedema; prevention & treatment of allergic & pseudo-allergic reactions:*
BY IV INJ: Adults: 1 amp
Children: 0.025 mg/kg body-wt
ORAL: Adults: 1 tab.
๐ Mode of Administration
Administered by IV injection slowly over 2-3 min.
โ Contraindications
Acute porphyrias, hypersensitivity, Avoid in severe liver disease; increased risk of coma.
โ ๏ธ Precautions & Warnings
Severe renal impairment, epilepsy, prostatic hypertrophy, pyloroduodenal obstruction, susceptibility to angleclosure, glaucoma, urinary retention
๐ Drug Interactions
Alcohol, CNS depressants, MAOIs.
โ ๏ธ Adverse Reactions / Side Effects
Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, antimuscarinic effects, blurred vision, GI disturbances, psychomotor impairment, urinary retention. Rare: Anaphylaxis, angioedema, angle-closure glaucoma
