๐ Indications & Clinical Dosage
*Moderate to severe pain:*
ORAL: Adult: 50 mg every 3-4 hours, dose to be taken preferably after food, usual dose 25-100 mg every3-4 hours; max. 600 mg per day.
Children 8-12 yr: 25 mg 3-4 hourly.
*Moderate pain:*
BY SC INJ, OR BY IM INJ, OR BY IV INJ: Adult: 30 mg every 3-4 hours as required; max.360 mg per day.
Children1-12 yr: max single dose 1 mg/kg body weight for IM or SC injection or 0.5 mg/ kg body weight for IV injection.
*Severe pain:*
BY SC INJ, OR BY IM INJ, OR BY IV INJ: Adult: 45-60 mg every 3-4 hours as required; max. 360 mg per day
Children1-12 yr: max single dose 1 mg/kg body weight for IM or SC injection or 0.5 mg/ kg body weight for IV injection.
๐ Mode of Administration
Rotate injection site; avoid intra-arterial injection, avoid SC use unless absolutely necessary (may cause tissue damage)
โ Contraindications
Acute porphyrias, heart failure secondary to chronic lung disease, patients dependent on opioids (can precipitate withdrawal), respiratory depression, raised intracranial pressure, head injury or pathological brain conditions.

Arterial hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, pancreatitis, phaeochromocytoma, pulmonary hypertension, impaired renal, hepatic or respiratory function

Abdominal pain, blood disorders, chills, disorientation, hypertension, hypothermia, myalgia, paraesthesia, raised intracranial pressure, seizures, syncope, toxic epidermal necrolysis, tremor, sedation, dizziness, nausea, psychotomimetic effects.
